From its inception in 1954 to the present day, Florlift of NJ, Inc. has been a leader in the elevator and lift field.
In 1954 Florlift of NJ was started as a division of the Essex Conveyor company, located in Nutley, NJ. With an innovative design,
Florlift introduced the FL-100 model of casket and mortuary lifts. With its newly introduced “hole less” hydraulic design,
Florlift quickly became the industry leader and soon captured the market in casket lifts with
i-pad cover
its reliable and trouble free design.
In fact the design was so solid that the original lift sold in 1954 is still in service today and has given its owners over 55 years of continuous and trouble free operation.
In 1977 Frank Sandola and his son in law Casper "Sonny" Vivona Jr. purchased the rights to the Florlift name and design,
and this family owned company has been producing these lifts from the original design since, now known as Florlift of NJ, Inc.
They began the business operating in a back yard garage in Nutley but soon out grew the facilities. In the early 1980’s Florlift
expanded its design to branch in the handicapped accessibility field and its handicapped
cycle clothing lift designs were one of the first to be certified by the New York City Buildings
Department and issued a NYC MEA certification for its innovative design and safety features.
As Florlift’s market continued to grow, it soon outgrew the garage space it occupied, and in 1984 the operation was moved to a larger manufacturing
facility in East Orange, NJ. During the 1980’s and 90’s Florlift continued to expand in the handicapped lift and material lift fields, and also began its elevator division.
